Mark your calendars! The Midwest Academy of Legal Studies in Business (MALSB) 2011 Annual Conference is March 23-25, 2011 at The Drake Hotel, located in the famous Magnificent Mile shopping district on North Michigan Avenue in Chicago, just minutes from Lake Michigan, waterfront parks, great theaters, excellent museums, and world class restaurants.

As in years past, the MALSB conference will be held in conjunction with the Midwest Business Administration Association (MBAA) International Conference, long billed as “The Best Conference Value in America.” The MBAA International Conference draws hundreds of academics from business-related fields such as accounting, business/society/government, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, health administration, information systems, international business, management, and marketing. Although the MALSB will have its own program track on legal studies, attendees will be able to take advantage of the multidisciplinary nature of this international conference and attend sessions held by the other program tracks.

The hallmark of the MALSB conference is presenting papers and learning from the scholarship of others in a collegial environment. Opportunities for recognition include publication in the refereed MALSB Proceedings, the MBAA International Distinguished Paper Award, the MALSB Outstanding Paper Award, and the MALSB Best Teaching Case Award.

Make plans to attend now! The registration deadline to appear on the MALSB track in the MBAA International Conference program and present a paper is November 12, 2010. The paper submission deadline for the MBAA International Distinguished Paper Award is October 22, 2010. The paper submission deadline for the refereed MALSB Proceedings and its Outstanding Paper Award is January 15, 2011.

For more information or a conference packet, contact Steve Bretsen, the MALSB Vice-President and Program Chair, at stephen.bretsen@wheaton.edu.

Please plan to join us at the 2010 Northeast Academy of Legal Studies in Business annual conference from April 30–May 2 at the La Tourelle Resort and Spa in Ithaca, New York in close proximity to Ithaca College.

Our conference will feature its usual high quality academic paper presentations as well as our annual award for "Best Conference Paper".  In keeping with our mission of assisting junior faculty in their academic growth and in sharing the best of our teaching techniques with all of our colleagues, we also will be presenting an award for the best paper submitted by a junior faculty member (a faculty member who has not yet been granted tenure) as well as an award for the best paper written on a pedagogical subject.

The NEALSB conference will be held in Ithaca Colleges brand new state of the art, Dorothy D. and Roy H. Park Center for Business and Sustainable Enterprise.  The innovative building is one of the first 100 buildings in the world to receive platinum LEED certification, the highest level granted by the U.S. Green Building Council. We will be enjoying a tour of the building during our conference.  Conference attendees will stay at the beautiful La Tourelle Resort and Spa, a world class luxury hotel.  The Resorts unique guest rooms feature spectacular views of the surrounding countryside.  Ithaca and the Finger Lakes region has lots to offer, ranging from hiking the beautiful waterfalls and gorges to wine tours and the local Farmers Market.

A pre-registration and call for papers packet will be distributed via e-mail, and will be available on the NEALSB website, later this summer.  If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact the NEALSB Vice President and Program Chair, Marlene Barken at mbarken@ithaca.edu or (607)-274-3946.
